Found running oxy 0.6.0's Windows build on the Windows VM (oxygenflow#83, 2026-10-26): oxy init demo says "Initialized oxy repository in \?\C:\work\demo", and clone the same. Repository roots are canonicalized (repo/mod.rs open/init, workspace, store, git import, cli sync), and on Windows canonicalize returns the verbatim (\?) form, which then shows in every message.

Fix: one helper that canonicalizes and, on Windows, drops the \?\ prefix when the plain form names the same path (a drive path under the old length limit, or \?\UNC\ as \), as the dunce crate does; used at each call site.
