Found by the Linux stage-1 benchmark on Earth. oxy's first commit of the Linux tip (95 943 files, 1.8 GB) made one change object of about 1.8 GB (every inserted line is inline in the change). The store wrote it into a pack although it exceeds MAX_OBJECT_LEN (1 GiB), and every later command then refused to open the repository with the misleading 'index entry points outside the pack'. Fixed here: put refuses an object over the limit before anything is written, with a message saying what to do, and the index loader names an oversized entry for what it is. The design limit itself is #NEXT.
