The VS Code import (CH2) saves which Git commits it imported only when it ends: its bookmark moves once, at the end, and imported commits are found from the bookmark's history. Stopping a 33-hour run loses all of it. Move the bookmark to the heads so far every 2000 commits (OXY_IMPORT_CHECKPOINT to test), so oxy git fetch resumes it; a resumed import with a never-checked-out working copy should check out; and oxy git fetch ../path failed with 'has no branch' because git ran the relative path from inside the mirror.
