On VS Code at 19,978 commits (~/bench/sl20000.oxy on Earth, oxy 0.4.1), oxy log --path package.json takes 53 s (2 min 18 s of CPU), all of it in "log: entries". oxy log -r 'touches("package.json")' returns the same 455 changes in 3.4 s, and git log -- package.json takes 0.15 s on the same history.
--path follows renames per entry; it should select with the same index touches() uses and only then follow renames. Target: under 0.5 s here.
Found while measuring oxy against Git for the storage write-up (refs issue #81).
