Git import: claim your own commits (author and sign them with your key) issue #97 closed: completed andymccall opened this · 0 comments

An imported change has the zero author key (spec §23): nobody can sign on a Git author's behalf. When the person importing is the Git author, that leaves their own history unattributed: doomsdayone/retro-remote-debug-controller shows 24 changes under an unlinked 'Andy McCall' and 1 under the account.

oxy git import and oxy git fetch take --claim: a commit whose Git author email is the email of the identity doing the import gets that identity's key as its author (and is sealed at push like any of their changes); every other commit keeps the zero key and its Git-Author trailer. The import stays deterministic for a given identity, and git verify is unchanged (it compares trees).
