The build image is built by hand on Earth (images/rust/build.sh), imported, copied to plex by ssh | sudo tee and re-pinned in three repositories; a new crate silently broke the hub's CI for hours, and Python's absence failed a job. Build images in a pipeline job (the image recipe as a job, its rootfs an artifact), let a runner fetch a pinned image it lacks from the hub's store, and publish each image's manifest (what it holds: toolchains, targets, tools) beside it.
