Jetstream: runners share images peer to peer (swarm) issue #47 closed: completed andymccall opened this · 0 comments

Runners fetch image chunks from each other as well as from the hub, BitTorrent-style (docs/jetstream.md §8.1):

  • a runner with [runner.swarm] serves the chunks it holds (complete images and ones still arriving) on a small HTTP endpoint, with an upload cap and a connection limit;
  • a fetch asks the hub's tracker for peers, exchanges have-maps, and takes the rarest chunks first from peers, the hub seeding only what no peer has (or when peers stall), with an endgame;
  • peers admit each other with a short-lived ticket the hub signs; every chunk is checked against its hash, so a peer can only fail to help, never corrupt;
  • off unless configured; sites keep traffic local.
