Andy chose "detect and learn" (2026-10-13). An image with no recorded architecture matched any runner, so a riscv64 runner (narvi) could be handed an x86_64 image, run it and fail.

  • jet::rootfs: read an ext4 image's /bin/sh (else busybox, env, bash) through symlinks to its ELF header, without mounting.
  • The runner reads an unrecorded image's architecture, records it in its manifest, reports it with its claims, and declines a mismatch (spec §11.2, §11.5).
  • The hub (oxygenhub#173) reads images it keeps on push and backfills; still unknown is offered only to the architecture its jobs passed on.
