The phone as a full Linux runner, through Android's Linux terminal issue #9 open andymccall opened this · 0 comments

Apps cannot use Android's virtualization (protected VMs) or Linux namespaces, but Pixels (and others on Android 15+) have Android's Linux terminal, a Debian VM. The app guides the owner to turn it on, then installs and registers the arm64 Linux runner inside it (syscall tier, as narvi), keeping its caches on the phone's storage. The switch itself stays the owner's: Android does not let one app turn on another's VM.
