Andy (2026-10-14): Administration › Mail should let an installation pick its service and give only what it needs, while staying generic. Each service is SMTP underneath: the panel fills in the server and login (Resend: smtp.resend.com, login resend, the API key as password; SES: email-smtp.REGION.amazonaws.com with SES SMTP credentials; Mailgun: smtp(.eu).mailgun.org), plain SMTP takes server, port and security, and an SMTP URL stays for anything else (file:// for development). Keys are never shown again; left empty, the saved one stays. Also: an smtp:// URL that says nothing of TLS now requires STARTTLS (lettre's default was none), except to a relay on this machine.
