One binary, several processes. --role web,worker (default all): web serves pages, API, the wire protocol and the runner API; worker runs the background tasks. Singleton tasks (Flow scheduler, reaper, placement, nightly maintenance, backups, Diffusion reconciler, tlog checkpointer) run only while holding a leader lock: Postgres pg_try_advisory_lock on a dedicated connection, always held on SQLite. Test: two hubs on one Postgres and one data directory, pushes through either, singletons on exactly one, failover. Design: docs/roles.md (2026-10-19).
