render::highlight::tests::a_text_with_a_very_long_line_is_shown_plain asserts the long line is handled in under 500 ms; in a debug build on a loaded workstation (load 7.7) it took 850 ms and failed the gate, then passed on a rerun. Make the bound generous for debug builds, or check that no highlighting work happened (count) rather than time it.
