Seen in the 0.4.4 gate (2026-10-17): credentials::tests::a_helper_keeps_the_token_out_of_the_file failed once with 'Broken pipe (os error 32)'. An erase helper may remove its file and exit without reading stdin; oxy then failed writing to it, depending on timing. Git ignores a closed pipe here and judges the helper by its exit status; oxy now does the same.
