With registration by invitation, a provider sign-in that matches no account is refused, so an invited person must register with a password first and connect the provider afterwards. The invitation page should offer 'Sign up with GitHub / GitLab / Google' (the branded buttons, issue #213) and carry the invitation through the provider round trip (in the state cookie), using it up when the account is made, exactly as the password form does.
